Capacity Building Fund
Africans are the greatest change agents for Africa.
With the support of our partners, we can help support comprehensive training programs focused on some of sub-Saharan Africa's most critical issues, such as climate change, biodiversity conservation, food security, and human health.
Status: Ongoing
The massive challenges facing the Congo Basin—climate change, human disease, food and water security, and loss of biodiversity—can only be solved by placing Africa at the center of the solutions. With your help, the Congo Basin Institute (CBI) is laying the foundation, in Africa, for lasting progress. CBI aspires to solve these challenges by employing an interdisciplinary scientific approach and developing partnerships that take research into action—with African scientists and decision makers taking the lead.
Capacity building is critical to this effort. As CBI develops the next generation of African scientists and policy makers, trainings and workshops, mentorship, research opportunities, and grants for African scientists are critical components of its novel approach.
With the support of our partners, we can help support comprehensive training programs focused on some of sub-Saharan Africa's most critical issues, such as climate change, biodiversity conservation, food security, and human health. Through hands-on learning opportunities in the lab and the field and workshops on the roles of ecotourism and entrepreneurship, students and local researchers learned invaluable skills, gained critical experience, and expanded their horizons. All of this is necessary to safeguard the future of this extraordinary region, its people, and the health of our planet.
